HOW CAN I JOIN PYP?

If you believe you have the passion, skills and ability to work with young people and their families then please do not hesitate to contact us. If you are suitable and we have a vacancy at the time of your enquiry we will let you know. We will then prepare you for our recruitment process which may involve some training as part of our Induction programme.

If at the time you contact us to volunteer your services, we do not have any availability, providing you fit the criteria, we would invite you to join our volunteer pool. We would then contact you as and when your assistance would be required. If you are not available to work with us at this time we would move to the next name on the list. You can request to have your name and details removed from our volunteer pool at anytime and we would not contact you again.

WHAT WOULD PYP NEED ME TO DO?

Volunteers could be required to support any of the services we run throughout the year. Each vary in frequency, length and size so the amount of time we would require support would be dependent on the the requirement for your services.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A VOLUNTEER?

We desire people who not only have a strong passion for young people and families but also the knowledge, skills and understanding about the issues surrounding crime and poverty that can affect their health and well being.  We therefore are looking specifically for volunteers who have backgrounds in education, health, social care, youth work, PRU's, social work, youth offenders & careers etc. We are also interested in people who have experience in housing, finance, banking, investment, business, counselling, training, consultancy, music, dance, poetry, drama, hospitality, event planning, project management, music production, video, radio, television, computer technology & sports.

The families we work with require a lot of support, therefore you will need to be relatively fit and healthy with a lot of stamina. In addition, we are looking for volunteers who will be caring and sensitive to their needs and have excellent communication skills.

The ability to participate in assessments, signposting, making referrals and attending meetings may also be a part of the role. Therefore your references must reflect a history of this experience, alongside; safeguarding, record-keeping, good attendance and time management.

Confidentiality is also a key element of this role, so a sound understanding of its importance is imperative. Volunteers also need to be willing and able to adhere to our organisation policies and undertake all necessary training for health & safety purposes. Team-building exercises and flexible working hours are just some of the other requirements.

All-in-all, this is a great opportunity for anyone who is keen to be a part of bringing change into the life of parents and young people. Everyday brings something different but the work is extremely rewarding and the experience will look great on your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
