"no child should EVER have to turn to crime because of poverty in the home"

Hi, I’m Patsy, the Founder of Positioning Youth To Prosper (PYP) and I believe that God has strategically chosen me to bring change and impact in the lives of young people across the globe. The idea of knowing that I have the power to positively influence others on this level is what drives my daily passion. My end goal is to leave a legacy of 'Youth Empowermentthat will be transferred from one generation to the next, therefore I keep on pushing forward despite the many challenges I encounter along the way.

I have over 30 years experience of working with families in a variety of public, private & voluntary sector establishments across the West Midlands. My professional career includes working as; Adult Tutor, Nursery Nurse, Project Management, Event Organiser and Social Action Director. Complementary to this I have worked within the Local Health Authority as a Registered Midwife Practitioner, in one of the busiest single site maternity units in the UK, caring for women from diverse backgrounds with both low risk and complex cases. I have also worked for the Local Education Authority providing Parenting Support, Family Outreach Services, Managing Budgets and Commissioning providers to deliver services for vulnerable families within the community. One of my most rewarding experiences was the 9 years I worked in a voluntary capacity as a Youth Practitioner and Performing Arts Co-ordinator for a large international charity organisation. This involved helping young people craft their creative skills in; music, song-writing, dance, drama and poetry, and preparing them to showcase their talents to audiences across the City.

I also have over a decade of experience as a Businesswoman and Visionary Entrepreneur trading in both retail and business-to-business in the areas of; Personalised Gifts, Promotional Printing, Event Management and Funeral Planning Services. Additionally, prior to PYP, I was one of the pioneer Company Directors of a multi-award winning Social Enterprise organisation that fought to protect vulnerable young people from criminal exploitation. Indeed my combined business experiences and the transferable skills I have acquired throughout my employed work is what has shaped me into becoming a competent Business Mentor to Start-ups and developing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

I am a certified Public Speaker & Community Influencer, and as my voice is the most powerful educational tool I possess, I have used it over the years to get my messages across to young people, parents and the wider community through social media platforms and the delivery of outreach events. Having worked with young people since the age of 15 years old, my mission has always been to bring out the best in them through motivational, inspirational & transformational methods that facilitate change in mindset and behaviour. I have a really strong passion for personal development, entrepreneurship and improving the socio-economic status of the young community by helping them recognise their true value and worth.

I get great satisfaction from helping and supporting those in less fortunate positions and a huge sense of fulfillment by playing a role in empowering them to grow and develop socially, physically, intellectually, emotionally, financially and spiritually. My experiences over the years have taught me the importance of developing trusting relationships with young people in order to achieve greater impact and longer-lasting outcomes. It is my belief that regardless of background, every young person has the potential to be a better version of themselves. Providing they have the right role models and resources, the transition will come to pass, and I wholeheartedly believe that Positioning Youth to Prosper (PYP) is the vehicle that will escort them to their desired destination.

"no child should EVER be subjected to criminal or sexual exploitation"

Hi, I’m Karl and I have been a member of the Positioning Youth To Prosper (PYP) team since 2019.  I have worked actively in the community over many years but most recently as an Executive Director in a Social Enterprise organisation seeking solutions around tackling serious youth violence involving gun & knife crime. The success of our work resulted in the organisation being recognised as a community champion and receiving awards for bravery and outstanding work.

I am also a Businessman with the role of Company Director within my family trade paper supplier business. I have worked in the sales & distribution industry for over 25 years where I have become fluent in sales & marketing, lead conversions, trade negotiations, financial transactions and importing & exporting extensively in Europe and around the world.

In addition to this, I am a successful Property Investor with a portfolio of properties, and a keen eye for development opportunities. My experience within this field has gained me a vast amount of knowledge in terms of the buying, selling and letting of both domestic & commercial properties and given me a greater understanding of the property trade market, investment options and saving methodologies.

I designate a portion of my time to working in a voluntary capacity with young people within my local church, where I am an appointed Minister and Youth Director. These positions carry weekly pastoral responsibilities to the church organisation, its parishioners and the wider community. Therefore I am not a stranger to working long designated hours without pay and demonstrating my passion & commitment to helping others.  I am passionate about seeing young people develop and thrive and strongly believe that every young person has a natural God-given talent. With the right opportunities and support, they can excel and achieve whatever they put their mind to.

PYP is committed to raising standards when it comes to; supporting families, advocating for young people and seeking education and entrepreneurial opportunities. It is for this reason that I believe my extensive knowledge and expertise in business, sales, lead generation & investment, and my need to ‘give back’ to the community, are highly invaluable tools for the growth and development of the organisation.

"no child should EVER feel the need to carry a weapon for protection"

Hi I’m Michael and I am a business owner and certified trainer and service provider of risk management services. I specialise in the delivery of Risk Management, First Aid and Health and Safety and have been facilitating training to public, private and voluntary sector providers, within the Birmingham & West Midland areas, since 2008.

I have always had a passion for residential/aftercare provision and the educational attainment of young people. My professional involvement in this field dates back to over two decades ago when I became a Founder Member & Director of the UK nationally recognised charity organisation, Excell 3, which offers educational services and support to underprivileged children & young people in our society. In addition, I am also a qualified Children’s Services Director with over 28 years of experience of working within statutory social care settings where I have held various positions including managing residential homes within the West Midlands.

One of my current community roles is that of Assistant Pastor at The Church of God of Prophecy where I hold responsibility, under the leading of the Bishop, for the Ministry team, congregation and wider community residents. My day-to-day responsibilities involve; preaching, teaching, counselling, conducting ceremonies such as; christenings & funerals and meeting the spiritual, social and emotional needs of our parishioners via home consultations, hospital support and residential care home visits. I am also the Ministry Director of Social Action overseeing several outreach projects including; The Homeless Project, Elderly Community Project, Men's Fellowship and Prison Ministries. My involvement in these areas incorporates interfaith working with other groups in a variety of settings across the country.

I’ve had the privilege of working with PYP over the past 7 years being a member of a very committed and dedicated team. During this time we have worked with a large number of young people from a wide variety of backgrounds which have enabled me to utilise my expertise in order to help bring out the best in them. Many of the young people who have attended our projects, workshops and outreach events come from very troubled backgrounds which requires me to listen and be empathetic and compassionate to their needs.  As a qualified counsellor of both young people and adults, this puts me in an ideal position to offer families the mental and emotional support they may require.

All of my roles take into consideration the need to maintain a strict level of confidentiality, adhere to privacy/data protection laws and follow organisation policies, procedures and protocols, which are the standard requirements of safe practice for all Positioning Youth To Prosper (PYP) staff.
